Elder arrested in Garland County

According to the Garland County Sheriffs' Department, a check of a suspicious person led to the arrest of a Pencil Bluff man late Tuesday on three felony counts of theft by receiving.

Lyndon Allen Elder, 37, was taken into custody shortly before 9:30 p.m. on the charges, each punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and remained in jail Wednesday with bond set at $10,500 and holds on him from Bryant and Montgomery County.

According to reports, Garland County Sheriff ’s Department deputy John Schroeder responded to the call of a suspicious person and spoke to the complainant in the 3700 block of Malvern Avenue, who said the suspect had left walking toward town.

The deputy located the suspect, identified as Elder, in the 3600 block and discovered he had valid warrants for his arrest, so he took him into custody.

He was searched and in his possession he allegedly had a driver’s license and two credit cards belonging to a local man and four checks in another person’s name.

The deputy contacted the owner of the license and credit cards and learned they had been reported stolen earlier from the victim’s vehicle on Akers Road.

There had been no complaints filed regarding the four checks at the time of report, but the investigation continues and more charges could be pending.
