The Hot Springs Police
Department has rescheduled its 2012 Citizens Police Academy, with the first
class slated for Thursday, April 5.
The course, offered free of charge,
familiarizes Hot Springs residents with the inner workings of the police
department and builds partnerships in serving and protecting the community.
Participants will have the opportunity to meet with members of the S.W.A.T. team
and detectives, learn about patrol functions, departmental structure and search
and seizure, and ride along with a police officer. The class will meet for eight
weeks on Thursday nights from 6 to 9 p.m. in the police station’s large
classroom. Each applicant is subject to a thorough background check before being
granted entry into the class, which is limited to city residents
only.
Applications may be picked up at the
police department front desk or printed from the police department’s page on the
City of Hot Springs’ Web site at www.hotspringspolice.com . Applications will be accepted until
Friday, March 30. For information, contact the HSPD Public Information Office at
321-6789, extension 6740 or 6734.
