The last in a series of free rabies vaccination clinics for dogs and cats,
minimum four months old, in Garland County has been set for Saturday, July 14 in
the livestock area at the Garland County Fairgrounds, 4831 Malvern Avenue. The
clinic will be held from 12:30 p.m. until 3 p.m.
Voluntary
donations of $6 will be accepted to cover the cost of the vaccine. Pet owners
must present a driver’s license or photo ID showing their home address to prove
residence in Garland County before a rabies shot is administered to their pet.
Rabies certificates will be issued upon vaccination.
Hot Springs
Animal Services is partnering with Garland County to provide up rabies
vaccinations in the interest of public health and safety. To date, a total of
927 cats and dogs have been vaccinated for rabies during three previous clinics
held in other parts of the county.
The two most
recent positive rabies cases have occurred in the southeast central portion of
Garland County, near Malvern Avenue. Residents are reminded to report any
daytime activity by nocturnal animals such as bats and skunks by calling
262-2091, and to avoid contact with them..
