Enjoy an evening on the lawn of the 1874 Courthouse at Historic Washington listening to live music from the past to the present. Bring your own lawn chair. In case of inclement weather, activities will be moved inside the 1874 Courthouse. William's Tavern Restaurant and the 1874 Courthouse Gift Shop will be open for all that wish to enjoy and evening meal or shop before the event. What better way to spend a summer evening than music on the lawn, good food and good friends? Special guests preforming are Clarke Buehling and Friends!

9 a.m. - 8 p.m.6th Annual Red River Heritage Symposium "Why We Fight"
     

This year the symposium at Historic Washington State Park will focus on the lives of soldiers of the Civil War in the Great Bend Region of the Red River with the theme “Why We Fight”. This year we have expanded our offering for Teachers. We will be offering an all day Teachers Workshop on Friday, July 27 and a morning workshop on Saturday, July 28. Lunch will be provided for both workshops. Sessions will cover resources for the classroom on the Civil War and the resources for teachers at Historic Washington State Park. Teachers will attend and experience programs that are designed for school groups. Presenters of both the workshop and symposium will present around the theme stated and will be announced at a later date. The cost is $25 per person if you would like to attend the workshop on Friday and $15 for the workshop on Saturday morning. We also encourage you to attend the symposium. The cost is $30 which includes supper. If you attend all programs we are offering a discount price of $60. A total of 12 credit hours can be earned by teachers attending the entire event. If you would like to come, please register with the park by July 25 by calling 870-983-2684.
