On Friday, July 6, Hot Springs Municipal Utilities set a new water production
record of 23.081 million gallons per day (MGD). Previous records were set in
2005 (22.908 MGD); 2008 (22.857 MGD) and 2010 (22.620 MGD). Cloud cover,
scattered rain and lower temperatures since Saturday facilitated slightly lower
production rates of 20.473 MGD on Sunday and 20.848 MGD yesterday.
“City water
customers are encouraged to voluntarily conserve water to preserve the city’s
water resources and lower their water bills during the hot summer months,”
Utilities Director Richard Penn stated. Tips on voluntary water conservation
can be found on the Utilities home page at www.cityhs.net
