U.S. Congressman Mike Ross of Prescott
was awarded the Arkansas Broadcasters Association 2012 Arkansan of the Year
Award at their annual awards banquet held in Little Rock, Arkansas, on July 20.
“Mike Ross has been one of the best
friends and biggest supporters of Arkansas Broadcasters to ever serve in
Congress,” said Doug Krile, Executive Director of the Arkansas Broadcasters
Association. “As you may know, Congressman Ross is a former broadcaster, having
worked his way through college as a radio announcer. That love of broadcasting
and his understanding of the industry have stayed with him through the years. He
has demonstrated his support for our industry time and time again, by supporting
legislation that was favorable to us and opposing legislation that could be
harmful. Perhaps most importantly, he never wavered in his opposition to a
Performance Rights Tax. He was a leader in sponsoring resolutions against any
such tax and worked with fellow members on the House Committee on Energy and
Taxation to keep this harmful proposal from becoming law.”
“It is a distinct honor and great
pleasure to have been awarded the Arkansas Broadcasters Association 2012
Arkansas of the Year,” said Congressman Mike Ross. “Throughout my years in
public service, I have always striven to improve the quality of life for the
working families and businesses of Arkansas. As a former broadcaster, I
understand the importance of the services our Arkansas Broadcasters provide,
especially to rural Arkansas, and am extremely humbled to receive this
prestigious award.”
