Did you know that the Arkansas History Commission, State Archives, in nearby Little Rock is filled with diverse resources from MANY states, not just Arkansas, making it a premier destination for genealogists and historians? Join the Village Genealogical Society at the September 5 monthly meeting to hear featured speaker, Jane Hooker, provide information and updates about programs and resources available for research. Jane is an archival manager at the Arkansas History Commission. She has a B.A. in history from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Prior to joining the History Commission staff in 1983, she worked as an archivist at Special Collections, University of Arkansas Libraries, and as a news librarian at the Arkansas Gazette.
The Village Genealogical Society meets the first Thursday of each month, except June, July and August, at Coronado Center, Room 6, at 2 p.m. Please call Celinda Chapman at 501-922-3258 or Nancy Holder at 608-692-0162 for details.
