Arkansas Highway Commission approves bid for improvements in Garland County

The Arkansas State Highway Commission approved a bid for improvements to roadways in Garland County, according to the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials and County Judge Rick Davis.

The purpose of the project is to resurface 4.4 miles of County Roads 64 and 65 in Garland County.

The work on County Road 64 (Amity Road) will extend from Highway 7 to Albright Road, just west of Lake Hamilton.

The work on County Road 65 (Marion Anderson Road) will extend from Highway 192 to South Moore Road, just west of Lake Hamilton.   

Martin Marietta Materials, Inc.  of Hot Springs, AR was awarded the contract at $497,608.47.  
                                                 
This county road project is funded through the State Aid Road Program established by the legislature and administered by the State Aid Division of the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department. This Program provides approximately $20 million annually from the state motor fuels tax to assist counties with projects of their choosing on the county road system.

Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting.  The project will be complete this fall.
