Mount Riante fire update
The Mount Riante fire in southern Hot Springs has been burning since Saturday. It has now claimed about 200 acres. The Garland County Sheriff's Department is not involved in fire control at this time. Joy Sanders, director of the Garland County Office of Emergency Management reported gawkers lining Highway 7, south of Lake Hamilton, are impeding the progress of emergency vehicles.
Currently, the fire is 75-percent contained. Sanders added, houses in the line of the fire have a full crew standing by to fight the fire should it threaten a home.
Garland County remains under extreme fire danger.
