The public is invited to an art exhibit opening
reception from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 18 at Hot Springs Memorial Field,
525 Airport Road. Traditional Art Guild artist Bruce Cook will be exhibiting
his 80th birthday show of landscape paintings.
A
self-taught artist, Cook likes to emphasize rock formations in close association
with water features in his work. One of his goals is to create pictures that are
comfortable to live with. His works have been shown previously at the Hot
Springs Airport and Garland County Library.
Cook's
professional life has included service as an officer in the US Marine Corps, and
25 years as a clandestine operations officer in the Central Intelligence Agency.
He has been awarded the agency's Career Intelligence Medal, and will display the
medal at the August 19 reception for those interested in intelligence
matters.
The
third Saturday of every month throughout the year, the airport will host a new
art exhibit by a TAG member, beginning with an opening reception. For
information on TAG membership, contact Nina Louton, Traditional Art Guild
president, at 620-0303.
