Mayors plant seeds for better public health


WHO:              Joe Bates, MD, deputy director, Arkansas Department of Health (ADH); Joe Thompson, MD, Arkansas’s surgeon general; Joe Quinn, senior director, issue management and strategic outreach, Wal-Mart; North Little Rock mayor, Patrick Hays; Little Rock mayor, Mark Stodola; members of various non-profit, state and local government agencies and other interested parties.

WHAT:            Kickoff ceremony for National Public Health Week, April 2-8, in Arkansas
           
WHEN:           Monday, April 2, 2012, 10:00 a.m.

WHERE:           Curren Conway Park, 2500 South Monroe, Little Rock, AR, 72204, in the garden and greenhouse area
WHY:              To call attention to the importance of public health in Arkansas, and to highlight the events planned for the week-long celebration

Note:   Both mayors will join some kindergarten kids to plant some fresh vegetables in the public gardens at Curren Conway Park near UALR.
