Friday, April 27, elementary school students from Fountain Lake will be showing their support for Heifer International with a "Stride for the Hide" walk-a-thon at the Fountain Lake track/football field starting at 9 a.m. The event culminates at 2 p.m. with the announcement of how much the children have raised for Heifer.
The school's goal is $5,000. The students have already raised money with a book sale, holiday store, "Read to Feed" program, and a program where students paste a cottonball on a sheep cutout at .25 per cottonball.
Younger children participate in the morning and older students in the afternoon. The walk-a-thon is open to the entire student body.
Tee shirts for the "Stride for the Hide" event are $8 each. The third and fourth grade students will wear tee shirts that say Stride for the Hide. The teaching staff's shirts say Do for the Moo. This is a great opportunity to sponsor a student walking to end worldwide hunger.
