Saline County library to host emergency preparedness program

The Arkansas Department of Emergency Management will present “Preparing for an Emergency” at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 19 at Herzfeld Library in Benton and at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 26 at Boswell Library in Bryant. Both programs are open to the public.

Saline County Library Head of Adult Services Sarah Sewell said overall emergency preparedness focused on Central Arkansas will be covered, including how to prepare disaster emergency kits and how to set up a disaster plan.

“This is valuable information for all ages to consider and take action on,” said Sewell. “It’s one of those things no one really enjoys having to do but will benefit greatly from. Simply knowing what to do in an emergency situation and having prepared in advance can really increase a person’s ability to respond in a calm and effective manner if/when the time comes.”
