The Junior League of Little Rock, in partnership with UALR Children International, is hosting a fun, family friendly event called Boosters and Big Rigs on Saturday, April 28 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the UALR Stephens Center and parking lot. The free event includes health screenings and immunizations, car seat safety education, and fun learning experiences with community vehicles such as ambulances, fire trucks, police cars and more.
This year’s health and safety fair partners three past JLLR projects, Buckle Up and Be Safe, Touch a Truck, and Be Wise, Immunize with a multitude of community partners to increase the size and scope of the health and safety event. Licensed professionals from UAMS will be on-hand to provide free car seat checks for proper car seat installation and education in the hopes of reducing the number of needless injuries and deaths from motor vehicle crashes in which car seats have been installed incorrectly. The Arkansas Department of Health Pulaski County Health Unit will also be on-hand to provide life-saving immunizations to children who are not current. Children must have parents or guardians with them in order to receive health services. Children will also have a chance to “touch” and learn about a variety of vehicles, including fire trucks, ambulances, police cars and many others. Music, games and refreshments will be provided to families who attend.
The Junior League of Little Rock is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
