Samantha Wright
One of the lead stories this morning on Good Morning America was the hunt for alleged kidnapper Jason Rippley but the alleged kidnapper was arrested in Tennessee after an all night investigation by the Garland County Sheriff's Department led out of state.
At approximately 3:25 a.m. this morning, Garland County alleged kidnapping suspect, Jason Ripley, was arrested in Sevierville, TN, on outstanding warrants of kidnapping and battery in the first degree. Also arrested was 28 year old Samantha Wright of Hot Springs. Wright has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and will also be charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution, a Class A felony.
Information was received that led investigators to believe that Ripley was staying at the Days Inn on 65th Street in Little Rock. Sheriff Sanders, on his way to Little Rock, was briefed on the information and checked the hotel for the suspect's vehicle at approximately 10 p.m. last night. A car matching the description of the one being driven by Ripley was found in the parking lot. Further investigation by the Sheriff revealed that the car was not the alleged suspect's car. But, he found a room had been rented by Wright and Ripley. The Sheriff worked with Pulaski County Sheriff's Department to clear the room. Garland County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene at approximately 11 p.m. and were able to find information that led them to believe Ripley and Wright had left the Little Rock area and were heading to Sevierville.
At approximately 2:45 a.m. the Sevier County Sheriff's Office was notified of the possibility the two alleged felons were staying in a local motel in their area. With the assistance of the Sevierville Police Department and the Sevier County Sheriff's Office the suspects' car was found at a motel, the room number was ascertained and both Ripley and Wright were taken into custody without incident.
