Free rabies vaccinations in Garland County

Free rabies vaccination clinics for dogs and cats, minimum four months old, in Garland County have been set for the following locations:

Saturday, June 2 - Lake Hamilton Intermediate School parking lot, Airport Road

Saturday, June 9 - Cutter Morning Star general parking lot, Spring Street

Saturday, June 16 - Fountain Lake Intermediate School parking lot, Highway 7 North

All clinics will be held from 12:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. Voluntary donations covering the cost of the vaccine, $6, will be accepted. Pet owners must present drivers license or photo ID showing their home address before a rabies shot is administered to their pet. Rabies certificates will be issued upon vaccination.

Hot Springs Animal Services is partnering with Garland County to provide up to 1,000 rabies vaccinations in the interest of public health and safety. The county recently approved $6,000 to pay for the vaccines. A total of 4 positive rabies cases have been confirmed in Garland County, outside city limits, so far this year. Residents are reminded to report any daytime activity by nocturnal animals such as bats and skunks by calling 262-2091, and to avoid contact with them.
