More British Week news


The British are coming to Hot Springs Village June 1 through 8. Classic British cars will be on site at the upcoming British National Car Meet, on June 2, during British Week. Car makers represented include Sunbeam (Get Smart and Agent 99), Aston Martin (of James Bond fame), Austin Healey, MG, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Lotus, Jaguar (Austin Powers), Triumph, Singer, Alvis, McLaren, Morgan, and more.
The meet is open to the public and will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Ponce de Leon Center grounds. Event attendees will have the opportunity to get in on the action, helping to choose the “People’s Choice” award. This coveted award will be given to the car that is most appealing to people who attend the show. Judges will also choose the top cars in each class along with a “Best of Show” award.

Allen Tillery Chevrolet, Buick, GMC will serve as the presenting sponsor for the event.

Attention Beatles fans, both young and old, make plans to attend one of two performances of “1964 … The Tribute.” Touted by Rolling Stone magazine as the “Best Beatles Tribute on Earth,” this musical concert will be held June 6 and 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Woodlands Auditorium at the Ponce de Leon Center. Reserved tickets are $25 each. Call 922-4231 for ticket sales.

In addition, the Hot Springs Village Green Bowls Club is holding a Lawn Bowling Demonstration from 1 to 3 p.m. on June 3 at the Lawn Bowling area.

Get your Commemorative Hot Springs Village British Cup today before it’s too late! The cups are available for $3.00 at the HSV Chamber of Commerce, Coronado Center, Diamante Country Club and all golf pro shops. Those with the commemorative cups will be eligible for $2.00 pints of beer (4 oz. more than a traditional draft) during British Week’s three Pub Crawl events. The Pub Crawls will be held from 3-7 p.m., June 1, 5 and 8 at Paradise Grill, The Pink Olive, Balboa Club, Mulligans at Ponce, JK’s Columbus Grill, Cedar Mountain Sports Lounge & Restaurant and the Diamante Country Club.
