Celebrate our nation’s birthday Wednesday, July 4, with a fireworks display at 9 p.m. on Lake Balboa. A DJ will play music at Balboa Pavilion from 7 to 9 p.m. prior to the display.
On Thursday, July 5, take part in a Flag Golf Tournament at DeSoto Golf Course. Tee times begin at 7 a.m. Entry fee is $10.00. That evening, beginning at 6 p.m., enjoy Chicken and Ribs for $12.95 at the Granada Terrace on the Greens. Then, stay for the Ping Pong Ball Waterfall Race, which begins at 7:30 p.m. The race entry fee is $5.00.
Friday, July 6 events include a fishing tournament at Lake Balboa. Sponsored by the Hot Springs Village Anglers, signups for the tournament will begin at 6:00 a.m. at the Lake Balboa Boat Ramp. The entry fee is $20.00. Prizes will be awarded in the following divisions: Adult, Adult/Child, and Male/Female. Weigh in will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m.
Also on Friday, a BBQ dinner and old-fashioned ice cream social will be held at the DeSoto Club Event Center at 6:30 p.m. The event will also feature lighted night putting contest and games of all kinds. BBQ dinner tickets are on sale for $9.50 at the Coronado Community Center, Coronado Fitness Center, Ponce de Leon Center and the East and West branches of Summit Bank.
A radio control airplane fun fly is one of the highlights of Saturday, July 7 events. The free event will be held at the Magellan Driving Range from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A decorated golf cart parade will be held on Saturday at Balboa Pavilion from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Entry fee is $5.00. Immediately following the parade, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., the Village Big Band will present a concert.
The DeSoto Pool will be open daily and will feature a giant water slide.
