As you may know, this new year will also be my last year serving you in the House of Representatives. However, by no means is my work on your behalf complete. Over the course of this new year, Congress will continue to consider numerous important issues that affect you and your family. As we consider those issues, it’s absolutely critical to hear from you in order to truly represent you.
Our Founding Fathers designed the House of Representatives to be the part of the federal government that is most closely held to the American people. The chamber is based on population and Members only serve two-year terms. Its nickname is the “the people’s house” because the House of Representatives was designed to represent and fight for the American people.
As your Congressman in the House of Representatives, my primary responsibility is to listen to you, fight for you and represent you in our nation’s capital. That’s what I have always tried to do and that’s what I will continue to do during the rest of the 112th Congress.
Throughout the year, please feel free to share any thoughts, comments, suggestions or ideas you have. You may do so by contacting my Washington office toll free by phone at 1-800-223-2220; by fax at 202-225-1314; by mail at 2436 Rayburn House Office Building, Washington, DC 20515; or, online at ross.house.gov, where you can also sign up for a weekly e-newsletter updating you on activities in Washington.
You can also reach out on Facebook at facebook.com/RepMikeRoss, Twitter at twitter.com/RepMikeRoss or YouTube at youtube.com/RepMikeRoss. As always, you may also e-mail me directly at mike.ross@mail.house.gov.
Finally, you may always stop by any of my congressional offices in person in El Dorado, Hot Springs, Pine Bluff or Prescott. Just call 1-800-223-2220 or go online at ross.house.gov to find the one nearest you and how to get there.
With a Republican majority in the House and a Democratic majority in the Senate, and with a presidential election around the corner, we can only anticipate that partisan bickering in Congress will be even worse this year compared to last year. It’s past time for Congress to stop the partisan games, stop drawing lines in the sand and to start working together to get the job done for the American people.
As your Congressman, I’ll continue to rise above the partisan fray, find common ground and work to bring both sides together. I don’t care if it’s a Democratic or Republican idea – only that it makes sense for the people here in Arkansas. That’s why my commitment has never been to any special interest or party leader in Washington and it never will; it will remain where it always has – with the people of Arkansas and with good, commonsense ideas.
In this new year, let us work together to get this economy moving again, create more private-sector jobs and stop the partisan bickering so that we can ensure America remains the strongest, most prosperous nation the world has ever known.
