I want to thank the Animal Welfare League shelter volunteers. Our shelter volunteers are a special class of people. They come from a variety of backgrounds, religious preferences, political persuasions, life experiences etc.... Their common bond is a willingness to help animals. Their jobs at the shelter vary and they are asked to perform a variety of complicated ever-changing tasks that keep the AWL side of the shelter functioning. They staff the shelter six days a week. These volunteers give of themselves to do a job that not everyone can handle. Since I have had experience working in a hospital, I can see a number of similarities between shelter work and emergency rooms. You never know what situations are coming through the door and not all of them will be pleasant. One of the more important functions that our volunteers perform is pet adoptions. The AWL measures our success on how many homes we can find for unwanted pets. How is the AWL doing?

Thanks to our AWL shelter volunteers and donors, we have been able to place additional emphasis on this area and we are starting to see the results. Special thanks to our AWL shelter workers for all of your efforts. You are the difference between life and death ! You are indeed LIFESAVERS !
