AWL meeting Thursday

The first membership meeting of 2012 for the Animal Welfare League will be held on Thursday, Jan. 19 at 2:00 p.m. in Room 6 at the Coronado Center.

Member, Sandy Mostrog, will be bringing her therapy dog, Izzy, and will talk about their experiences at care & rehab centers. Izzy is a tiny teacup Shih Tzu with a big heart and a day brightener for patients who love to have some time with a furry friend. Izzy loves to pose...see photos attached.

POA board candidate, Frank Leeming, will also be speaking about his vision for HSV. This will be a good opportunity to hear Frank's thoughts about the future of our shelter.

Coffee will follow the guest speakers and precede the Business meeting.

The AWL is pleased to let all of you know that the 2011 Membership Drive added hundreds of new members. Membership totals now stands at 603! Thank you new and returning friends of AWL for your enthusiastic responses and support. Membership Chair, Carol Newman, put together a great campaign. We salute her and her husband, Bob, for a hugely successful program. ApPAWs! ApPAWs!

If you like to bake and would like to contribute coffee treats for the monthly AWL member meetings, please email Carol Ralph cbrcsr@att.net. Meetings are always the 3rd Thursday of the month (except June, July & August). Include your phone number. We'll find a month that is convenient for you.

The shelter has a number of beautiful cats in our Community Cat program that are ready for adoption. Call Nancy 922-6444 or Connie 915-9702 for details or a visit. Pictures of cats in foster homes are available at the shelter.

Speakers for the Feb. 16th membership meeting will be Jackie Paul and one of her champion pointers Bobbie Bateman and Keith Keck, POA Board candidates.
