The presentation on February 2 will be “ Researching Quaker Records by Marilyn Mertens”. Marilyn Mertens will present some historical background on Quakers in England and Ireland, give tips on how to locate monthly meetings, explain Quaker dating, and provide information on how to locate Quaker records.
Marilyn Mertens is a retired political science professor who inherited a love of family history from her parents. Since they retired, she and her husband have made many trips to courthouses, libraries, historical societies and cemeteries in the U.S., Germany and Sweden, searching for documentation in order to meet the highest proof standards of genealogy research. Marilyn also enjoys compiling her genealogy records and photos into scrapbooks and CDs to share with relatives.
The Village Genealogical Society meets the first Thursday of each month (except July and August) at the Coronado Center, Room 6, at 2 PM. Anyone interested in family research is welcome to attend. Please call Bill Patterson at 922-6965 or Valerie Hartnett at 922-6922 for details.
