Fire fighter hurt while fighting Hot Springs Fire

On Thursday, May 16 at 6:02 p.m., the Hot Springs Fire Department responded to the report of a fire at a residence located at 116 Chelle Street. Upon arrival, firefighters noted the structure was engulfed in fire and smoke.  They entered and extinguished the fire within minutes, after which the fire marshal’s investigation determined the cause to be an accidental cooking fire.

One male occupant who had evacuated the structure prior to firefighters’ arrival was taken to Mercy Hospital for severe smoke inhalation and subsequently airlifted to Children's Hospital in Little Rock for advanced treatment.  One firefighter sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from the hospital.
