Student delegation applications for students desiring to be part of the 2013 Sister City student delegation traveling to Hanamaki, Japan in July are due on January 14. Garland County students currently in grade 8-11 are eligible to apply for the week-long educational study trip, which is sponsored by the Hot Springs National Park Sister City Foundation. Between five and ten students will be chosen to travel to Hanamaki as representatives of Hot Springs, and will be expected to participate in Sister City programs and promotions throughout the year following their return. The study trip will take place during the 20th anniversary year of the Hot Springs-Hanamaki sister city relationship.
Applications are available from the Sister City Program page of the City of Hot Springs Web site at http://www.cityhs.net/pdfs/public-information/2013%20Student%20Application.pdf . Applications must be complete or they will not be considered. Limited scholarships are available.
“Thanks to the assistance of so many Garland County students, teachers, host families and volunteers, we just completed two very successful student delegation visits from Hanamaki,” said Sister City Program Coordinator Mary Neilson. “This is a great opportunity to enable our students to have a similar experience.” For more information, contact Neilson, 545-6960.
