Secretary of State Mark Martin invites the public to join him in honoring
survivors of the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor.
“Each year we remember the attack that brought America into World War II by
honoring the Arkansas men who survived that day,” Martin said.
The ceremony begins at 3 p.m., Friday, Dec. 7, in the Capitol Rotunda on
the second floor.
“Only about 1.5 million veterans of World War II are still alive, of over
16 million who served,” Martin said. “That’s a great loss to our nation, and we
deeply honor their service. The Arkansans who were stationed at Pearl Harbor are
especially near our hearts at this time of year.”
“I encourage all of our citizens to join us for Friday’s ceremony,” Martin
added. “It’s important that we honor the families of those who served and
sacrificed, and those who are still doing so.”
