U.S. Senator Mark Pryor recently served as co-chair of the 60th Annual National Prayer Breakfast, an interfaith event that brings together religious leaders, the President of the United States, members of Congress and foreign dignitaries to put aside differences and pray about the needs of our nation and the world. Over 3,000 guests, representing every state and over 160 countries, attended the event.
In addition to President Obama, speakers at this year’s National Prayer Breakfast include author Eric Metaxas, 11-year-old singer Jackie Evancho and 2011 Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin, III, “RGIII”.
“Some of you have heard that things could be better in Congress. That’s true,” Pryor said. “We don’t need a constitutional amendment or some big congressional reform. We just need to start acting better, and Jesus gives us the place to start. It’s simple, but it’s hard. We need to love and pray for people who disagree with us. We hope you’ll love and pray for us and with us this morning in this special time today and when you return home.”
