New man at the top of Arkansas Lottery

The Arkansas Lottery Commission tonight Saturday at 7:45 p.m. named William Bishop Woosley as the new Director of the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery. Woosley, the Lottery’s Chief Legal Counsel since its startup in mid-2009, will be paid $165,000 annually.

Woosley, from Stuttgart, practiced law in his home town and served as Deputy Prosecuting Attorney there prior to joining the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office as a Deputy Attorney General. He came to the Lottery from that position.

The decision followed a day-long meeting of the Commissioners with all nine members present. Seven candidates were interviewed on Saturday prior to the Commissioners’ deliberations and decision.

The appointment is effective immediately.
