Millions to benefit from generous donation to Heifer International

Nearly two million people across the globe will be given the hope of a better life and the dignity of self-reliance thanks to the generous donations to Heifer International this past holiday season. We at Heifer are grateful for those donations and for the opportunity to spread our work into new villages, towns and cities to help even more.

The gift of an animal makes a transformational difference in the lives of families living in poverty. Take Scovia, from Uganda, for instance, when her brothers died of AIDS, they left her an additional 12 children to care for. She received the gift of a heifer and said, "How can a hopeless person like me become a millionaire?" A gift from a generous donor made her feel like a million bucks! That's the power of a Heifer gift.

Heifer International has an excellent reputation for working against hunger and poverty in ways that strengthen local communities over the long term. Each gift donated opens up a lifetime of opportunity for families in need by empowering them with the means to improve their nutrition, increase their harvests and generate more income. With its requirement that successful participants Pass on the Gift to another needy family, Heifer encourages communities to take responsibility for each other.

Heifer is now able to help nearly two million families a year become more self-reliant, but none of it would be possible without the ongoing support of our loyal donors and supporters. Thank you to everyone who donated and helped spread the word of our mission.
