Village POA board work session

Today’s Village POA board work session reviewed several proposals that will come up for a vote on September 18th.

Villager John Tidquist, a member of the PRO 10 presenters, explained their idea to have interested Villagers donate $10 a month to help finance special projects around the Village. Staff general manager David Twiffs suggested the month donation be added to the amenity choices on the POA annual renewal form.

Tidquist’s PRO 10 associates are John Hollansworth, Joe Morreau and Paul Bridges. This group is looking for feedback from Villagers to ascertain if this idea is worth pursuing. Hollansworth emphasized the PRO 10 is strictly voluntary and is not an assessment increase.

Mt. Carmel has asked that residents in its 14-bed Alzheimer’s patient unit pay one Village assessment instead of 14. This is a similar arrangement to Good Sam’s.

Beverly Ellison, manager of the planning and inspections department presented the preliminary plan for the proposed All Saints Anglican Church phase 1.

Board president Keith Keck discussed the formation of a health services committee to keep on top of changes in the regional medical community.

GM Twiggs also discussed the Jump Start Grant staff is submitting to MetroPlan on September 9th. The board will vote on this issue after submission but will have the ability to pull the application out of consideration if needed.

The grant is a maximum of $200,000 to be applied to the development of the area surrounding the Ponce de Leon Center. The plan calls for upscale dense housing and other amenities.
