The Animal Welfare League monthly meetings resume on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 2 p.m. in room 6 at the Coronado Center.
The speakers will be Garland County Justice of the Peace Larry Griffin and Acting HSV Police Chief Ricky Middleton. Justice Griffin will explain the Garland County ordinance for vicious or problem dogs and county licensing regulations. Chief Middleton will talk about the pet complaints that are handled by the HSV Police Dept.
A business meeting will follow the speakers and a coffee break.

DANCING WITH THE VILLAGERS is coming up Tuesday, Sept. 24 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Coronado Center.
Tickets are on sale at Melinda’s Coffee Corner, LBG Lighting, and the Dogwood Tree or phone Julie Keck 915-9986. Reserved tables of eight can be purchased from Julie by phone.
It will be a wonderful evening of dancing and entertainment featuring hors d’oeuvres buffet catered by Home Plate and a cash bar. Competition level dance demonstrations by Arthur Murray dancers Malarie and Jeremiah.
There will be a Village couples dance contest…. Vote ($1.00-a-vote) for your favorite pair to choose the winning couple.
Dancing for everyone to the music of the Village Big Band. Your favorite tunes for fast dances, slow dances and line dancing during the band’s intermission.
Also, drawings for cash and Cranford’s gift certificates. There will be a special raffle for a $500 package of Arthur Murray dance lessons donated by Malarie and Jeremiah De La Vega.
Raffle tickets for all the prizes will be sold throughout the evening.

Bakers are needed to donate desserts for the fundraiser. If you can donate 2 doz. brownies or sheet cake pieces call Jackie Morris 915-8849. Bakers are welcome to use their favorite recipe.

Donate $10 a month in increments of $30, $60 or $120 (for 3, 6 or 12 months). Monthly drawing winners take home half the value of the drawing each month…up to $500…and become the Leader of the Pack for the month. There will be a new drawing and a new pack leader each month. This is a great way to support the shelter pets and have a chance at a windfall!
___BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS is Tuesday, October 8 at 2 p.m. at the Ponce De Leon Porte Cochere, come rain or shine.
Pastor Ross Worch will officiate at the non-denominational service to celebrate the pets that share our lives. A memorial wreath will be available for photos of pets to be remembered.
We will collect dry cat or dog food for pet owners in need and for distribution through the Jackson House food pantry. Those who wish to donate may bring the pet food of their choice to the blessing. Pet Projects Photography of Benton will be available to take photos of your pet before and after the ceremony. Individual prints start at $8. Packages start at $25. Cash or check only please.
All Village pet owners and their pets are welcome. For safety, ALL DOGS MUST BE ON LEASHES & ALL CATS OR SMALL PETS MUST BE IN CARRIERS
___AWL CATS GET A SHOT AT LIFE!
The AWL was a recent recipient of the grant “A Shot at Life” from the Petfinder.com Foundation and its Board of Directors, The Animal Rescue Site and Boehringer Ingelheim Company. The award was for 100 doses of feline vaccines which will be administered by our shelter vet. We are thankful for these wonderful organizations that make low cost or no cost grants available for stray and abandoned animals.
