Pennington resigns

In one sentence beleaguered Saline County Sheriff Bruce Pennington said it all, and yet gave nothing away in his letter of resignation late Friday morning to Saline County Judge Lanny Fite. Pennington wrote, "effective October 1, 2013, I will be retiring as Saline County Sheriff.

The Sheriff plead guilty early last week to two misdemeanors in conjunction with his June 29th arrest on alcohol-related charges. 62 year old Pennington was arrested in the Denton's Trotline restaurant's parking lot. He was sitting in his truck. The truck ignition was off.
