Prehistoric
Arkansans survived without modern medicine because of their knowledge of what
plants could heal them. Parkin Archeological State Park will offer an American
Indian Herbs and Remedies workshop on Saturday, September 21, from 1 to
4 p.m. to celebrate the ingenuity of the Native Arkansans. Come learn about the
practical aspect of health and healing with plants and herbs used by many American
Indians, even some used right here at ancient Casqui. Rediscover an art long
known and used by those who considered the plant world their friends. Also make
a medicine bag and fill it with selected dried herbal and plant examples.
Participants must make a reservation. Workshop fee to cover materials is $15.
Please email mel.harvey@arkansas.gov or call 870-755-2500 to preregister.
