Use proper syringe disposal

The Village POA department of public works urges members to adhere to the following state regulations for safe disposal of syringes and other sharps to prevent injuries to sanitation workers.

Used syringes and other sharps should be temporarily stored in a leak-proof container, such as a chemically-disinfected thick plastic, puncture resistant container (such as liquid soap, laundry soap or fabric softener containers). Be sure the container has a cap or lid that can be tightly secured to protect against any accidental exposure. Be sure the container holding the disinfected needles and sharps is securely closed before double bagging for disposal as regular solid waste.
