Sisters united action group organizes to reduce infant mortality

WHO: Presidents of local sororities; Paul K. Halverson, DrPH, state health officer and director, Arkansas Department of Health (ADH), Lamar Davis, deputy chief of staff; David Grimes, MD, branch chief, Family Health, ADH; Michelle R. Smith, director, Office of Minority Health & Health Disparities

WHAT: Special Sisters United Action Group Meeting to help fight infant mortality in Arkansas

WHEN: Thursday, June 21, 1 to 2 p.m.

WHERE: ADH Auditorium, 4518 W. Markham, Little Rock, AR 72205

WHY: To introduce a new program to help reduce African American Infant Mortality. The program involves training for sorority sisters so that they can be a trusted source of good information for their friends and others living in areas where infant mortality is high.

Note: An infant under the age of one dies almost every day in Arkansas, and there is a disparity between African American babies and those that are white.
