Because of increasing temperatures and less than normal
rainfall, the Hot Springs Village Property Owners' Association Department of
Public Safety reminds residents to be mindful of dry conditions to prevent
fires.
Dry weather fire safety tips include:
Tobacco products: (1)
Dispose of smoking materials into appropriate containers. Tossing smoldering
materials, including cigarettes, onto the ground should be avoided. (2)
Extinguish cigarettes properly and do not discard from vehicles. (3) Never walk
off and leave a burning cigarette. (4) Use ash trays.
Outdoor cooking:
(1) Place grills well away from home, deck railings, and out from under eaves
and overhanging branches. Avoid placing the grill on dry grass leaves. (2)
Never leave an outdoor charcoal or gas grill unattended. (3) When you are
finished grilling, let the coals completely cool before disposing in a metal
container. (4) Be sure the hose connection on gas grills is tight and check
hoses for leaks. (5) As soon as your meal is done cooking, turn the grill and
the fuel cylinder off.
