With 11 recreational lakes, Hot Springs Village offers fishermen and women alike the opportunity to land a “big one.”
Though it may still be cold outside, the bass and crappie are biting, according to Jimmy C. Barnes, local professional fisherman. Barnes leads fishing charters on all the HSV lakes.
“When it comes to the Village, I call it a hidden paradise,” said Barnes, “where a big bass is just a cast away.”
Barnes suggests using an Alabama rig for catching a big bass. He also notes crappie fishermen can’t go wrong with minnows.
HSV lakes are stocked by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission with black bass, spotted bass, channel catfish, blue cat, black and white crappie, blue gill, green sun fish and copper nose bream.
Other lakeside amenities include three swimming beaches, two covered pavilions and two full-service marinas. The lakes offer a variety of fun activities like fishing, swimming, kayaking, boating and skiing.
