New Pope elected

Catholics have a new Pope. About 1 p.m central standard time the smoke was white at the Vatican. About an hour later Francis I made his first appearance. Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio of Argentina surprised the waiting  crowds. Religious pundits had not discussed Bergoglio's chance of winning the prized position. Bergoglio is 76. A younger Pope was expected.
