Garland County Sheriff Larry Sanders was elected first vice president of ASA board. The Arkansas Sheriffs’ Association announced that Sanders will serve on its executive board as first vice president until July 2012.
Sanders has served on the ASA executive board since 2008. In July 2012, he will be presented with the highest honor an Arkansas sheriff can be given, serving as president of the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Association. “Sanders is well-respected and trusted by the Arkansas Sheriffs’ due to his ability to not only protect and serve the citizens of Garland County, but for the passion he puts in to helping protect all Arkansans,” the press release said.
“The ASA is truly honored to have Sheriff Sanders as a part of their executive board.” Sanders is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. He also serves on the board of directors for the following organizations: Arkansas Sheriffs’ Association Task Force, southern coordinator, 18th East Drug Task Force; Arkansas Sheriff’s Youth Ranch, Arkansas Crime Information Center supervisory board, University of Arkansas Criminal Justice Institute, Garland County Jail Ministry, Garland County United Way, Abilities Unlimited, and Ouachita Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.
Sanders and his wife, Tina, have two daughters.
