Since 2006, vocalists of The Muses Creative Artistry Project have brought audiences carefully crafted Sunday afternoon Christmas garden programs, designed to delight and transport listeners away from the stress and unhealthy speed of modern “holiday-hectic” into an ethereal space, where everything that isn’t music is silence; and where the mind quiets and pulses relax; and people remember why they celebrate this time of year.
On Sunday, December 18 at 3 p.m., The Muses presents its 6th annual “Voices of Angels” concert in Garvan Woodland Gardens’ Anthony Chapel. The concert is the final program of the “Four Seasons in Art & Song” 2011 subscription series.
Audiences are invited to this vocally stunning and spiritually uplifting musical experience. Baritone Stacey Murdock, tenor Dustin Peterson, mezzo-soprano Nicole Asel, and soprano Deleen Davidson comprise the classical vocal quartet, while Allan Armstrong, Steve Suter and Shelley Martin make up the chamber ensemble, presenting three centuries of composers setting the ancient story to word and music, in wonder, love and praise. Hot Springs’ own young sopranos Brooke Brehm, Claire Turkal and Katie Garner complete the musical cast, while Belle Neilson of Hot Springs Village portrays the spritely “Spirit of Christmas.”
Tickets, $25, are available at the 3 Arts Café & Bookstore in the lobby of the Hale Bathhouse in downtown Hot Springs; online at www.themusesproject.org; or by calling the Muses, 463.4514.
