The holidays are a perfect time of year to shop, dine and sightsee in historic downtown Hot Springs, with sparkling lights and decorative garlands transforming it into a winter wonderland, according to Parks & Recreation Director Jean Wallace. “The Parks & Recreation downtown lighting program is bigger and better than ever this year,” said Wallace. “Thanks to many public and private partners who help us install the displays, Hot Springs is simply glowing with the Christmas spirit.”
Downtown merchants are providing extended hours to help residents shop locally. The Exchange Street Parking Plaza, across from Bathhouse Row, offers 240 parking spaces. Free parking is available on the top floor, with a magnificent rooftop view of downtown Hot Springs. The landscaped plaza features light-festooned trees and twinkling archways. For daytime shopping, dining and viewing, the downtown area is also served by Hot Springs Intracity Transit, the city’s public transportation provider. For information on public transit routes and fees, call 321-2020.
