ARVets grand opening

ARVets, a new local non-profit organization for Arkansas Veterans and their families announces their grand opening on Thursday, December 8. The Grand Opening Ceremony will take place at 10:00am at ARVets, 4704 West Commercial Drive, Suite B, North Little Rock, AR 72116. Veterans, family and supporters are encouraged to attend the event.

This event will be highlighted by special guest speakers Governor Mike Beebe and Terry Williams, Chairman of the Governor's Commission on Veteran's Affairs. Community partners, supporters and veterans will be in attendance to learn about the mission of this new nonprofit and to celebrate the opening of this critical resource for veterans. Funding for ARVets’ programs and services comes from individual donors and from organizations whose work is aligned with their mission. Because of this, programs and services are provided at no cost to Arkansas veterans and their families.

ARVets came into existence as a result of the research and work of the Arkansas Yellow Ribbon Taskforce, whose mission was to conduct an in depth analysis of the needs of Arkansas veterans and how efficiently those needs were being met. The outcome reflected that the system of care was shaping up to be something concrete and beneficial but needed a unifying factor to connect veteran specific resources to veterans and their family.

ARVets is the definitive link to bring it all together. They provide the coordination of effort and resources for military, veterans and families through a number of programs & services.

The programs of ARVets will be centered on the Four Point Programmatic Thrusts.
· Job Training & Career Development
· Behavioral & Physical Health
· Homelessness
· Community & Family

The service delivery component of ARVets will allow for one-on-one contact with the veteran and will promote the strategic connection of veterans with opportunities throughout Arkansas.
At the helm of the organization is Chief Executive Officer Nicole S. Hart, who is a combat veteran herself. When asked about her vision for the programs and services of ARVets, she commented “We want an environment where the veteran feels like they have a consistent place they can go and get the help they need or find out the information needed to help themselves. It’s not about us a telling a veteran what they need but them telling us. On the battlefield the culture is to follow orders and complete the mission, at home we want them to give the orders and we complete the mission for them!”
