Dracula at the Pocket in Hot Springs

Theatre-goers who enjoy a quick-fire procession of super-quality thrill, surprises, shudders and sensations cannot afford to miss seeing Dracula, the mystery of mysteries, which is the next production at the Pocket Theatre. It is said that audiences everywhere have found the two hours of horror, surprises and thrill that invariable greet this play wherever played to be not only blood-curdling but most entertaining as well. Dracula holds the audience nervously expectant. – “New York Times” The play was founded on Bram Stoker’s famous novel of the same name, which has been read by two generations of booklovers, and though it is more than thirty years since it was first published, it has run through countless editions and still ranks as one of the best sellers.

Lucy Seward, daughter of the physician in charge of a sanatorium near London, is mysteriously anemic. Doctor Van Helsing, a specialist in obscure diseases, suspects a vampire which, according to legend, is an ugly soul that, grave-bound by day, roams the earth at night, and sustains its earthly life by sucking the blood of approachable victims. Instituting a search, Van Helsing uncovers Count Dracula as such a vampire and, finding the grave, drives a stake through the heart of the corpse from which he comes, thus ending the vampire’s existence.
