U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and John Boozman today applauded the confirmation of Judge Susan Hickey to serve as the United States District Court Judge for the Western District of Arkansas. Her nomination was confirmed today by the full Senate.
“Susan Hickey’s extensive legal experience in the public and private sectors has proven her a strong leader and a well-qualified candidate for U.S. District Judge, and I was pleased she was confirmed today by the Senate,” Pryor said. “I am confident she will serve the Western District of Arkansas with distinction.”
“Judge Hickey’s distinguished career reflects her pursuit to serve the interests of justice. I am confident that her commitment to a fair and impartial legal system will serve her well on the federal bench,” Boozman said.
Background on Judge Susan Hickey:
Susan Hickey is the Circuit Judge of the 13th Judicial District, a position she has held since 2010. Previously, Hickey served as senior judicial law clerk for U.S. District Judge Harry Barnes from 2003-2010 and as in-house counsel to Murphy Oil from 1981-1984. Ms. Hickey is a 1980 graduate of the University of Arkansas Law School.
In April 2011, Hickey was nominated by President Barack Obama to succeed Judge Harry Barnes as U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Arkansas. Her nomination was approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee in July.
