WHY: Discussion of Birthing Project models, education and support to help improve access to care and services to at-risk women and families.
Note: The mission of the international organization is to improve birth outcomes for women of color by providing technical assistance and support to communities and organizations to replicate and sustain the Birthing Project models of providing education, support and access to care and services to at risk women and families. The Chicot County Project was the 100th Birthing Project established worldwide and is implemented in conjunction with the Arkansas Department of Health and its STAR Health program, which targets Chicot, Desha and Lincoln counties in an effort to reduce the disease burden in these areas.
