Stocking Heifer cottages with knives

Jane Parker, president of the HSV Heifer Club, and the Culinary District, located on Ouachita Avenue in Hot Springs, are teaming up to help the Heifer Ranch stock their volunteer cottage kitchens. Heifer Learning Center, at Heifer Ranch in Perryville, is a global educational campus and demonstration farm. They provide visitors and volunteers an environment that is educational, challenging, and engages people to help end hunger and poverty throughout the world.

Volunteers come from across the United States, as well as other countries to have the “Heifer Experience”. The volunteers range from high school and college graduates to retirees. The volunteers stay in cottages throughout their time at the ranch.
Recently, Heifer remodeled their cottages and are now in need of chef knives to stock the cottage kitchens. Culinary District and HSV Heifer Club are working together to stock these cottages with knives. They are in need of the following size knives: 8”, 10” and 12” chef knives.

If you have an 8”, 10”, or 12” chef’s knife and would like to donate it, Culinary District will give you 10% off your in store purchase. If you purchase a new knife, when donating your old knife, Culinary District will give you 15% off your new knife purchase.

The Heifer/Culinary District knife drive began Tuesday July 12 and will run through Tuesday July 19 at 6 p.m. Knives can be dropped off at the Culinary District, located at 510 Ouachita Avenue, across from the courthouse.

Culinary District’s manager, Becky Newell, said “This is a great way for people in our community to donate to Heifer and be a help to the volunteers that cook while staying on the ranch. We are so fortunate to be the home state for the Heifer International Headquarters and are even more fortunate to have an active club in Hot Springs Village. I am hopeful, as is Jane, that we will be able to have enough knife donations to stock all the volunteer cottages. “
