Boating stats for Garland County Independence Day weekend

Thursday July 7, 2011 5:01 p.m. CDT

Garland County had deputies patrolling both Lake Hamilton and Lake Ouachita over the Independence Day weekend. As mentioned in previous reports, the department is proud to have a Certified Paramedic and a Certified EMT on staff with the Marine Division and all were on Hamilton and Ouachita over the weekend. The following are a few statistics that you might find interesting for the weekend of the Fourth.

A total of 155 boats were stopped for safety reasons. Out of the 155 only 7 actual tickets were written one of which was related to a BUI arrest. There were 94 warning tickets written. Garland County Sheriff's Office is extremely happy to report that no boating accidents were reported to the agency on either lake. Arkansas Game & Fish also had boats on both lakes, but a report on their activities is not available at this time.
