Cornett open house for retirement

The Property Owners’ Association will hold a public open house for Laroy Cornett, Director of Public Safety, on Thursday, Nov. 8 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the DeSoto Club Events Center.

Cornett, who is set to retire from his post Nov. 9, following more than 18 years of service, began his law enforcement career with the Pasadena, Texas, Police Department. He served as a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigations from 1968-1994.

A native of Houston, Cornett and his wife, Beverly, have one daughter, two sons, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
