Arkansas TheatreWorks announced that its production of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf has been rescheduled due to facility difficulties at the Central Theatre. During the recent TheatreWorks production of Moonlight and Magnolias, truly uncomfortable heat levels were experienced in the auditorium. The building owner is fully aware of the situation and is taking steps to correct the problem.
In addition, a plumbing complication arose in the public and backstage restrooms. The city of Hot Springs determined that their lines were the cause of the problem and repairs will have to be made under Central Avenue. The owner of the theatre has been assured that the city’s response will be as rapid as is realistically possible.
Because of concern for patron comfort and the unpredictability of repairs, the Board of Directors concluded that it was unrealistic to proceed with the production of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf until these issues are resolved. Therefore, the Virginia Woolf production was rescheduled, and all subscribers and single ticket holders were informed by US Postal mail.
Once new dates are confirmed, all ticket holders will be so advised and new tickets issued. Any subscriber conflicts with the new dates will be resolved.
The productions of Stage Struck (September 23 – October 2) and Ain’t Misbehavin’ (November 11 – 20) are scheduled to proceed as originally planned.
