Below is a brief update of where Teen Challenge is since the April 25th tornado hit its center.
On the program side - the daily routine of the students and functions of the program are normal. Classes are running as scheduled and the Work Detail program is fully functional. The Multi-Purpose Building (classroom, dorm and dining area) which suffered some damage, but is still functional, is scheduled for repairs.
On the administration side - the building that housed the administration offices and resale shop was completely destroyed, along with two mobile homes. The demolition of the building and homes has been completed and Teen Challenge is working with an architect to establish how to move forward to rebuild. It will take about 60 days to complete the planning project, at which point Teen Challenge will still be waiting to hear from its insurance company. The estimated loss on the property and contents is $900,000.00. This does not include the daily loss of revenue from the resale store, which has been a substantial loss of income.
Property surrounding the campus - the property that surrounds the campus and houses staff is being cleared of debris, but it is going to be a slow process seeing as there were a lot of trees on property.
Teen Challenge wants to express its overwhelming gratitude to all the Teen Challenge centers, businesses and individuals who have come together with such generosity and love. The overwhelming and generous prayers and contributions that it has received will be critical in assisting in rebuilding efforts.
