No warning sirens in Hot Springs Village

Back in the 1970s when the Village was newly minted there was a warning siren on Calella Road. Each day at noon the siren was tested and everyone knew just what time it was.
When the siren broke it was too expensive to replace and as the Village grew the notion of replacement was even more costly.
Today, the average cost for an outdoor warning siren is $280,000 each. The Village would need several.
Needless-to-say, the Village will continue to soldier on without an outdoor warning system. During an emergency stay tuned to KVRE at 92.9 FM.
